ORLANDO, FL. — Brazil used a late surge to beat Croatia 3-1 Tuesday night at Camping World Stadium, a World Cup tune-up that doubled as Brazil’s final major test before Carlo Ancelotti names his squad.

Brazil controlled much of the first half and finally broke through just before the interval when Matheus Cunha slipped Vinícius Jr. into space. Vinícius drove past multiple defenders and squared for Danilo, who finished first time to put Brazil in front.

Croatia found life late, leveling in the 84th minute as Lovro Majer met Toni Fruk’s cross and guided it past Bento. The equalizer didn’t last long. Brazil won a penalty four minutes later after Endrick was brought down in the box, and Igor Thiago converted from the spot for his first international goal.

Brazil added a third in stoppage time through Gabriel Martinelli, sealing a win that also carried some history — the teams’ first meeting since Croatia eliminated Brazil at the 2022 World Cup.
