HONOLULU, HI— Cal jumped out to a 21-0 lead, but Hawai’i stormed back and stunned the Golden Bears 35-31 in the 2025 Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.

The finish was brutal for Cal. After the Bears grabbed a late 31-28 lead with 1:57 left, Hawai’i answered with a 68-yard game-winning drive, capped by a 22-yard touchdown pass from backup QB Luke Weaver to Nick Cenacle with 10 seconds remaining.

Cal freshman QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele delivered a big night, throwing for a career-high 343 yards and adding the go-ahead 1-yard TD run late in the fourth. But Hawai’i’s offense kept coming, scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

For Hawai’i, Micah Alejado finished 32-of-46 for 274 yards and three TDs, while Pofele Ashlock posted 14 catches for 123 yards and two TDs and was named the bowl’s MVP by the program.

Cal ends the season 7-6 with a third straight bowl loss, while Hawai’i closes 9-4 after one of the biggest home bowl rallies the islands have seen in years.
