LAFC wasted no time taking control of the match. The hosts grabbed an early lead in the 7th minute through a David Brekalo own goal, then completely took over before halftime. Bouanga scored in the 20th, 23rd, and 28th minutes, all during a devastating stretch where LAFC overwhelmed Orlando’s back line and put the match out of reach early.
Son Heung-Min was at the center of nearly everything dangerous LAFC created in the opening half. The South Korean star assisted Bouanga on all three of his goals, then added another assist on Sergi Palencia’s strike in the 39th minute as LAFC stormed into the break with a 5-0 lead. It was a statement performance from a team that looked sharp, direct, and fully in control from start to finish.
Even with the result already decided, LAFC kept pushing. In the 70th minute, Tyler Boyd headed home a cross from Jacob Shaffelburg to make it 6-0 and cap off a dominant night in Los Angeles. Hugo Lloris added six saves and secured another clean sheet, helping LAFC extend its record shutout streak to begin an MLS season to six matches.
The win moved LAFC to 5-0-1 in league play and kept them alone at the top of both the Western Conference and the Supporters’ Shield standings. For Orlando City, the night was another rough one, as the Lions dropped to 1-5-0 after being overwhelmed by one of the league’s hottest teams.
