The San Jose Earthquakes continued their strong start to the season with a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC at BMO Field.

Toronto came out flying, opening the scoring just 110 seconds into the match. Dániel Sallói curled in the early goal after a buildup involving Markus Cimermancic and Jonathan Osorio, giving the home side an immediate boost against the league leaders.

San Jose did not take long to respond. In the 14th minute, Niko Tsakiris delivered a free kick into the box, and Preston Judd slid in to finish from close range. The goal was Judd’s team-leading seventh of the season and continued his strong run of form for the Quakes.

The match stayed tight from there. San Jose nearly found a second in the 65th minute, but Judd’s potential go-ahead goal was ruled out after video review for offside. Toronto then came close to stealing the match late when Sallói chipped the ball over San Jose goalkeeper Daniel, only for Reid Roberts to make a spectacular goal-line clearance in the 86th minute.

The draw extended San Jose’s unbeaten streak to seven league matches and helped the Earthquakes retain first place in both the Western Conference and Supporters’ Shield standings. The club also tied the MLS record for the longest unbeaten road streak to start a season.
