MIAMI, FL — J. Cole brought The Fall-Off Tour to Kaseya Center on Tuesday, July 14, giving Miami fans a live look at the next chapter of his celebrated career.
The Miami performance arrived near the beginning of Cole’s extensive world tour supporting The Fall-Off, his long-awaited seventh studio album. The tour began with two shows in Cole’s home state of North Carolina before making its next stop in South Florida.
Taking the stage shortly after 9:20 p.m., Cole opened the performance with “39 Intro” before moving through newer records including “Two Six,” “SAFETY,” “Run a Train,” “Poor Thang” and “Legacy.” The opening stretch placed The Fall-Off at the center of the show, introducing the arena to the music currently defining this stage of his career.
Cole later reached deeper into his catalog with fan favorites such as “A Tale of 2 Citiez” and “Fire Squad,” two standout tracks from his acclaimed 2014 album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. He also performed “WHO TF IZ U,” “Old Dog” and his memorable verse from Benny the Butcher’s “Johnny P’s Caddy.”
Throughout the night, Cole’s performance remained centered on the quality that has followed him throughout his career: his ability to command a massive arena without losing the personal and reflective nature of his music. His sharp delivery and detailed storytelling carried from the stage throughout Kaseya Center as longtime supporters connected with both his newest material and the records that helped establish his legacy.
The approximately two-hour performance served as both an introduction to The Fall-Off and a celebration of the journey leading up to it. Rather than separating the different eras of his career, Cole brought them together, showing how his sound, perspective and presence have continued to evolve over time.
