The Galaxy had control of long stretches of the match at Dignity Health Sports Park, finishing with 57 percent possession, 20 shots, and seven shots on target, but Minnesota stayed organized, absorbed pressure, and made its chances count when it mattered most. It was a disciplined performance from the Loons, who were missing veteran leaders Wil Trapp and Michael Boxall but still looked composed from start to finish.

After a scoreless first half, Minnesota found the breakthrough in the 51st minute. Joaquín Pereyra chipped a ball over the top of the Galaxy back line, and Anthony Markanich timed his run perfectly before finishing one-on-one to make it 1-0 for the visitors.

LA responded quickly and pulled level in the 57th minute through Marco Reus. After Gabriel Pec and João Klauss combined at the top of the box, Reus saw his first effort saved but reacted fastest to bury the rebound and bring the Galaxy back into the match at 1-1. The goal also gave Reus a goal contribution in three straight league matches.

The equalizer did not shift the match for long. In the 68th minute, Tomás Chancalay drove down the left side and cut a ball across the box, where Kelvin Yeboah arrived for a simple finish to restore Minnesota’s lead. From there, the Loons held firm defensively and saw out the result to secure all three points.

Even with the Galaxy throwing numbers forward, Minnesota goalkeeper Drake Callender came up with six saves to help preserve the win. LA created more volume, earning nine corners and forcing several stops, but the finishing edge belonged to Minnesota, who turned just three shots on target into two goals.

For Minnesota, it was one of the club’s sharpest performances of the season so far and an important bounce on the road. For the Galaxy, it was another frustrating home result in a slow start to the league campaign, with Greg Vanney’s side now still searching for consistency after falling to 1-3-2.
