LAFC’s unbeaten run came to a dramatic end on Saturday as Portland Timbers earned a 2-1 win at Providence Park with a stoppage-time dagger from Kevin Kelsy. Kristoffer Velde gave Portland the lead in the 32nd minute, Jude Terry answered with a brilliant equalizer early in the second half, and Kelsy’s 90+6' winner sealed a massive result for the hosts. The loss was not only LAFC’s first of the season, but also the first time the club had conceded in league play in 2026.

For Portland, it felt like a release. Velde finished with a goal and an assist, Cole Bassett added another helper, and the Timbers finally delivered the kind of result that can shift a season’s mood. For LAFC, Jude Terry’s stunning strike was a bright moment, but the bigger story was the end of the league’s last unbeaten team and the end of that clean-sheet streak.
