After a hard-fought performance at home, Toronto seemed on course for a huge result when Gilberto Flores’ own goal in the 83rd minute gave the club a late 1-0 lead. With FC Cincinnati down to 10 men following Kévin Denkey’s red card in the 71st minute, the match looked under control and the three points looked within reach.
But just as Toronto appeared ready to close it out, Cincinnati found a dramatic answer in stoppage time through Kenji Mboma Dem, whose first MLS goal silenced the home crowd and forced Toronto to settle for a 1-1 draw.

For Toronto, the bigger story is the missed opportunity. Against one of the East’s stronger sides, the team put itself in a winning position late and had the man advantage, but could not see the match through. Instead of a statement home win, Toronto was left with frustration after letting all three points slip away at the death.
