Vancouver kept its early-season surge alive with a 2-0 win over New York City FC at BC Place, extending the club’s best MLS-era start and moving level on points at the top of the Western Conference. Mathías Laborda opened the scoring just before halftime, and Brian White finally put the match away late after wave after wave of Whitecaps pressure.

This was another match where Vancouver looked composed, dangerous, and difficult to break down. Yohei Takaoka posted his fourth shutout of the season, while NYCFC goalkeeper Matt Freese was forced into a busy night with eight saves just to keep the scoreline respectable. For a Whitecaps side that keeps finding different ways to win, this result only added to the growing feeling that this start is becoming something much bigger than a hot streak.
