The San Jose Sharks found encouraging production from their young core on Tuesday, but the Boston Bruins pulled away for a 6-3 victory at SAP Center. Charlie McAvoy scored in his season debut for Boston, while Fraser Minten finished with two goals as the Bruins earned their third consecutive win.

San Jose answered Boston’s opening goal when Jacob Trouba scored his first goal as a Shark late in the first period. Ivar Stenberg then tied the game on a second-period power play, redirecting a cross-ice pass from Macklin Celebrini for the first goal of his NHL career.

Boston regained control before the second intermission through goals from Matthew Poitras and Pavel Zacha. Celebrini cut the deficit to one early in the third period, but Minten restored the Bruins’ two-goal advantage before Will Borgen completed the scoring into an empty net.

Celebrini and Stenberg each recorded a goal and an assist for San Jose, while Jeremy Swayman made 35 saves for Boston. The Sharks have now lost two straight and three of their last four, even as their youngest forwards continue to create some of the team’s most promising moments.
