The San Jose Sharks played without Macklin Celebrini on Monday night, listing the forward as day to day with a lower-body injury before a 5–0 loss to the Dallas Stars. Celebrini participated in warmups but did not enter the game, and Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said afterward that the issue had already been under management rather than occurring during warmups.
Dallas controlled the night after the opening minutes. Jake Oettinger stopped all 13 San Jose shots for the shutout, while Jamie Benn and Jason Robertson each recorded a goal and an assist. Yaroslav Askarov made 21 saves for the Sharks, who fell to 2–1–0 after winning their first two games of the season.
Celebrini's availability remains the most important question for San Jose's next stop. He collected five assists across the Sharks' first two games, including three against Florida and two against Los Angeles. San Jose is scheduled to visit St. Louis on Thursday, and the day-to-day designation leaves room for his status to change before puck drop.
