The United States leaned on its next generation and came away with one of its most convincing recent results against Mexico, earning a 3-0 victory Saturday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Teenagers Julian Hall and Cavan Sullivan scored the first two goals before Malik Tillman closed the match late.

Hall opened the scoring in the 28th minute after reacting first to a rebound from Gio Reyna’s cross, giving the 18-year-old three goals in his first three senior international appearances. Sullivan doubled the lead in the 62nd minute by intercepting a goalkeeper’s pass and lifting a long-range finish into the open net. At 17 years and five days old, he became the youngest goalscorer in USMNT history.

Mexico went down to 10 players after Mateo Chávez received a red card in the 67th minute, and Tillman added the third goal in the 84th. Goalkeeper Diego Kochen recorded a clean sheet in his first start against Mexico, while the U.S. defense limited its rival to one shot on target.

The result gave the United States a third straight multi-goal victory in the current international window and its sixth win over Mexico since 2021. The USMNT returns Tuesday, Oct. 6, against Canada at Allianz Field in St. Paul.
