SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers will put their 5-0 start on the line Monday night when they host the Washington Commanders at Levi's Stadium. It will be San Francisco's first primetime game of the 2026 season and the team's first regular-season night game at home this year.
San Francisco arrives after a 32-29 comeback win over Seattle that kept the 49ers atop the NFC West. Through five games, Brock Purdy has completed 98 of 142 passes for 1,196 yards and 13 touchdowns, and he has thrown at least two touchdown passes in every game. Washington enters at 1-3-1 after a 27-27 overtime tie with the New York Giants, with quarterback Jayden Daniels back in the lineup after missing two games because of an elbow injury.
The night will also carry historical weight. The 49ers are tied with Pittsburgh for the most Monday Night Football wins in NFL history at 55, giving San Francisco a chance to move into sole possession of the record. Former linebacker Keena Turner will also become the 34th member of the franchise's Hall of Fame during a halftime ceremony.
The matchup is part of the 49ers' 80th-anniversary Alumni Weekend, with 94 former players expected to return. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Pacific on Monday, October 19, with the game airing on ESPN and ABC.
