Gotham Chases Club History

Gotham FC can make club history Friday night when it hosts the Portland Thorns at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

The club has gone nine consecutive NWSL regular-season matches without a defeat. A win or draw against Portland would extend that streak to 10, establishing a new Gotham record.

Gotham’s last loss came against San Diego Wave on July 4. Since then, the club has developed into one of the league’s most difficult teams to beat while receiving important contributions from a roster filled with international talent.

Friday’s matchup will also feature two of the NWSL’s most recognizable clubs. Their previous meeting ended in a 2–2 draw at Providence Park, where Sam Kerr scored her first goal since returning to Gotham.

With Kerr back in the attack and Gotham carrying momentum into the second half of the season, the match offers the club an opportunity to turn its impressive run into a historic one.
