SÃO PAULO, Brazil — June 6, 2026: The U.S. Women’s National Team opened its two-match series against Brazil with a 2–1 loss at Neo Química Arena in São Paulo.
The match started perfectly for the United States. In just the second minute, Sophia Wilson scored her 25th international goal after Trinity Rodman forced a turnover high up the field. Wilson collected the ball and finished low into the corner to give the USWNT an early 1–0 lead.

Brazil answered quickly. Tainá Maranhão equalized in the 11th minute with a header from an Isabela cross, and just three minutes later, Bia Zaneratto finished a quick give-and-go with Dudinha to put Brazil ahead 2–1.

The United States pushed heavily in the second half and created pressure around Brazil’s box, but the final touch never came. Brazil held on in front of more than 31,000 fans, earning its second straight win over the USWNT and fifth all-time victory against the Americans.
For Emma Hayes’ side, the result gives the team plenty to learn from before the two nations meet again on June 9 in Fortalez.
